Bruce Brainard is well known for meditative, allegorical landscapes of infinite skies, fields and oceans. Inspired by his environment of the American West, his scenes of peace and solitude represent humanity’s search for meaning and inner tranquility. Painting with a comfortable, warm realism, Brainard effortlessly reveals the warmth of sun and the earth, and his brushwork captures the quiet energies of wind and water in clusters of clouds and solitary trees. Through his compositions, Brainard invites the viewer to experience stillness within the ever-changing cycles of nature and the universe as a whole.
