Wolfe’s multi-media paintings are intense nature studies, representing the gradual color progression of the seasons. Cumulative layers of shapes and color generate a sense of transformation. Her process in the past began by gathering different types of flowers and greenery, sketching their silhouettes, and cutting them out on printed-paper. Working on large panels Wolfe uses the stencils to enhance the intricacy of layers and shapes, carefully capturing the organic shades of nature. Moving away from paper Wolfe has begun having the delicate shapes of her stencils cut in metal, stringing them together to mimic the two dimensional layering of her painting into a three dimensional installation.
